Duties and Responsibilities: A plastic surgeon operates on a patients face or body in order to repair or reconstruct the area. As a plastic surgeon, you may perform two types of surgery:cosmetic surgery to improve appearance and reconstructive surgery to correct appearance after an injury or to improve bodily function.

Education: After completing a bachelor's degree program, future plastic surgeons must earn a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited medical school. A doctor of medicine program includes four years of education and training.
