This quote means that if you do everything and try your best a test or sports for example, then that means that you will your hard work payed off and you will have a happy life when you do everything with your best and do what is right. And if you don't try your best on anything and you just think that evreyhting will go on fin, then that's not choosing the right and you are damaging yourself because if you put some hard work into it, then that means that you will have a good life and your hard work will pay off, but if you don't try nothing to get your hard work to pay off, then why did you even try to do some hard work when your are doing nothing at all.
