Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Duties and Responsibilities: Perform surgery and related procedures on the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions to treat diseases, injuries, or defects. May diagnose problems of the oral and maxillofacial regions. May perform surgery to improve function or appearance.

Education:Additional Training & Residency Requirements — Following dental school, oral and maxillofacial surgeons complete a minimum of four years in a hospital-based surgical residency program. Depending on the residency program, some surgeons may also choose to earn a medical or other advanced degree.

The total demand for OMF services would increase from 466 184 services in 2007 to 610 352 services in 2037 (an increase of 30.9%) under the no demand rate growth scenario (Scenario I) and increase from 559 155 services in 2007 to 1 253 746 services in 2037 (an increase of 124.2%) under the continued rate of growth scenario.

Reflection: i would not like to become an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon because i'm not interested in any of those things as a surgeon or doctor.
