This quote means that if you hang out with some of your "friends", then that means that you would be hanging out with friends that are bad for you because if they drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes, those are bad friends for you because if you don't smoke or drink at all with your friends and they want you to do it, then don't do it because they are bad friends and you deserve better. And if you have friends that don't smoke and drink, then that means that they are good friends for because they wont force you to do bad things and they wont offer you nothing of bad things but they can offer you something better and that most of us don't get which is called "friendship".
